REAL Ministries Dress Code & Conduct Requirements
(A printed form of this information will be handed out and discussed in our next youth group meeting on January 11, 2005)
Dress Code—we have a dress code so that our youth group can follow the Biblical principles of modesty and distinction.
The following dress code guidelines are always given in the minimum: this is what you should at least wear when coming to REAL Ministries.
Dress code for Wednesday night
During late spring, summer, and fall: Wednesday night youth meetings will include 20-35 minutes of sports activity at the park. Due to this, all students will be permitted to wear the following attire to church:
Guidelines for dress during Wednesday nights without sports activities are as follows:
Sunday morning and Sunday night is intended to be a time of discipleship and worship before the Lord. Therefore, students are encouraged to wear attire that reflects respect and reverence to God. Students are encouraged to wear the following attire to church on Sundays:
Dress code for Youth Activities away from church
It’s always important to keep a good testimony for our youth group, church, and Lord when we participate in activities as a group away from the church. Follow the dress code for Wednesday night. Determine if we are going to play sports activities and then dress accordingly.
Unacceptable attire
Conduct requirements—we have conduct requirements so that our youth group can have a comfortable and safe atmosphere where students can grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
The following conduct requirements are expected of each student who participates in REAL Ministries.
What you should bring to youth meetings and church services
What you should NOT bring to youth meetings and church services
The following behavior will NOT be tolerated
Consequences for improper behavior
We want to keep our youth program fun, exciting, and spiritually helpful for all of you. The best way to make this happen is for all of us to know what we should and shouldn’t do when we come to REAL Ministries.

Dress Code—we have a dress code so that our youth group can follow the Biblical principles of modesty and distinction.
- What is modesty? The Bible teaches that we should dress modestly. Modesty is not showing too much of yourself to others. We can be modest by wearing the right kind of clothing. Dressing with modesty tells others that you respect yourself and the feelings or thoughts of others. (Read 1 Timothy 2:9-10 and also check out http://www.bible-infonet.org/bin/feature_articles/living/modesty.htm for a good article about modesty.)
- What is distinction? The Bible teaches that we should dress with distinction. Distinction is dressing in a way that shows the difference between young men and ladies. We dress with distinction when young men dress like young men and young ladies dress like young ladies. (Read Deuteronomy 22:5.)
During late spring, summer, and fall: Wednesday night youth meetings will include 20-35 minutes of sports activity at the park. Due to this, all students will be permitted to wear the following attire to church:
- Knee-length shorts
- Jeans (avoid ripped or torn jeans)
- T-shirts
- Khakis, jeans, and casual shirts (polos or nice t-shirts) for young men
- Khaki or jean skirts (at least knee-length) for young ladies
- When the youth group is not involved in sports activities it is unnecessary for any student to wear shorts to church.
- Slacks, khakis, jeans and a nice shirt for young men
- Dresses or skirts (at least knee-length) for young ladies
- For young men: mesh shirts; clothing with profanity or evil slogans/pictures; shorts during church services.
- For young ladies: short skirts; skin-tight shirts or jeans; shirts that have a low neckline or expose the midriff.
- Bible
- Good attitude
- Food
- Pets
- Drugs or alcohol
- Weapons of any kind
- CD/DVD players or iPODs
- Headphones
- Electronic games
- Magazines or books with objectionable content
- Large amounts of money or valuables
- Constant disruption of any youth meeting or church service
- Fighting or striking one another (keep your hands and feet to yourself!)
- Cussing or taking God’s name in vain
- Vandalism or destruction of church property (this includes church vehicles)
- Physical contact between boys and girls such as kissing, holding hands, and prolonged hugging
- Vocal or written threats to another student or any youth worker
- Intentional disobedience to the request of any youth worker
- If you continue improper behavior after 1 warning by any youth worker, then you will be removed from the youth program and suspended from REAL Ministries for a minimum of 1 week.
- If you repeat improper behavior after a 1 week suspension, then you will be removed from our youth program for a minimum of 1 month. After one month you may or may not be allowed to return to the youth program depending on the outcome of a personal meeting with Pastor Glenn and your parents.
