What's Your New Year's Resolution?

2006 is here. What's your resolution for the New Year?

Many people will resolve to lose weight, quit bad habits, or watch how they spend money over the next 365 days. What are you planning to do? What's been in your heart to see or accomplish?

With whatever you may resolve for this new year, make sure you also make some spiritual resolutions for yourself, too.

Jonathan Edwards, the man who preached the famous sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," wrote out 70 spiritual resolutions for himself! You can read them all here.

Let me give you some simple spiritual resolutions that you can make for yourself this new year:

1. Resolve to read the Bible through from cover to cover.

2. Resolve to thank God for your food before every meal.

3. Resolve to pray for your church and your pastors at least once a week.

4. Resolve to lead one person to salvation in Jesus Christ.

5. Resolve to give back to God a part of what He gives to you.

6. Resolve to memorize your Scripture verses for each week.

7. Resolve to have a godly attitude at home, school, and church.

The Bible says in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me."

So go ahead, make your spiritual resolutions and trust God to help you carry through with them. He will, and you'll be a better person for it by the end of 2006!

New Year's Surprise!

In church on January 1st, Pastor Rodgers will be making a great announcement about something that will make everyone happy!

What do you think that announcement will be?

(By the way: the memory verse for this Sunday in the teen class is Psalm 107:1)
